Cookie Policy

Last updated 21/05/2026
Scope: this page applies to Rooms in Cambs — the public room-listing site and the applicant / tenant tools linked from it. If you’re an HMO Toolkit subscription customer (a landlord), see the equivalent pages on hmotoolkit.co.uk.

This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on roomsincambs.co.uk and on the applicant tools linked from it. It complements our Privacy Notice.

What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file your browser saves on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let the site remember your choices and recognise you on subsequent visits. Similar technologies (local storage, session storage) work in much the same way; for clarity this Policy treats them all as cookies.

Your choice

When you first visit the site we show a cookie banner with two buttons of equal prominence: Accept all and Reject non-essential. Reject is as easy as accept — neither is hidden behind a second screen. You can change your choice at any time using the Manage cookie preferences link in the footer of every page.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary

Always set. Without them the applicant tools can’t function.

  • rooms-cookie-consent — local storage. Remembers your cookie banner choice (accepted or rejected) so we don’t show the banner again.
  • r2r_request_token, viewing_token (and similar) — short-lived URL tokens used to authenticate applicant submissions on token-protected pages. Held in memory only for the duration of the submission.

Analytics

Only set if you tap Accept all in the cookie banner.

  • We don’t currently run analytics on this site. If we add any in future this page will be updated before they go live.

Third-party

Third-party widgets embedded on the site may set their own cookies — for example, mapping providers used on the property pages.

  • We don’t currently embed third-party widgets that set cookies. If we add any in future this page will be updated before they go live.

How to manage cookies in your browser

Changes to this policy

If we add or remove cookies we’ll update this page. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when.
